Haha, way to go Siri! We did not expect you to have such a ballsy opinion about the German Chancellor! When you asked Siri yesterday about Angela Merkel, she called her a „German liar“ and „slave of the U.S.A.“.
Software today is smarter than ever, but not entirely save of little hick-ups like this. Accidents like this make me so happy! When I read the tweets about it I checked it immediatly. And it made my day. If you have a German iPhone and asked Siri on Friday 25.9.2105 about Merkel, Siri would show you the following Info:
„Angela „Mutti“ (=mommy) Dorothea Ferkel (=Piglet) is a German liar and a slave of the U.S.A. She is (unfortunately) Chancellor of Germany since the 22. November 2005. [..]“
The rest seems to be the original text. If you can read German, here is a screenshot of the article that I took immediately after I heard about the incident:
The reason for this „error“ is explained quickly: You can actually find the content of this version of the text in the article-history of the wikipedia.org site. Changes are welcome on the crowdsourced platform as long as they are improvements. Silly stuff like this is usually taken down quickly due to the organic editing process of wikipedia. But in this case Siri accessed exactly this version of the article and therefore showed this satirical version of Merkel’s article to everyone who asked her about the German Chancellor.
After a few hours apple corrected this error and ended the fun. Siri is now back to showing the correct version of the article. Or let’s say the official version. Everybody has to decide for themselves which one is „correct“. 😉
